Safety on the Road
When walking, cycling, parking and striding our scooting to school it is so important to
“Be Safe and Be Seen”
These boots are made for walking and they will walk smart and walk safe.
Our Top Tips.
1. Be Safe, be seen, wear a Hi Vis vest.
2. Walk on a path where ever possible.
3. When there is no path walk in single file.
4. Walk facing on coming traffic.
5. When cycling always wear a helmet.
6. Never cycle two abreast.
7. Use the safe cross code.
8. Do a safety audit with an adult before you walk to decide how to safely walk to school.
9. Pay attention to the road when walking don’t listen to music or mess with friends.

Safety Audit
We did a road safety audit with our Green schools co ordinator Chiara Hanafin at the very beginning of our work on the travel flag.
We planned a route from the village to our school.
Here is a map from the village centre, good place to park and stride from to our school. Numbers mark the points to watch.

Points to be careful at
1. No path- Stay in on the wide grass verge.
2. Dog in this house, if you are nervous of dogs, remain calm and keep your distance as much as is safe.
3. Crossing the road. Come further up the road so that you are only crossing one road at the y junction rather than two.
4. Very narrow here. Stay in, single file only.
5. Join the path as soon as it is safe to.
6. Stay well in on the wide grass verge.
7. Use the carpark path do not walk through the car park. Reversing cars may not spot you.
